    We’ll be taking some old books, carving out the middle and creating a beautiful garden right in there! You do not have to have a green thumb to do this (although we wouldn’t recommend this for someone with a black thumb, either.

    ?? All materials will be supplied but if you have a glue gun you’d like to bring, feel free. Materials are being provided by the Friends of the BFL.

  1. Focus on Balance – Managing Concerns about Falls

    An evidence-based workshop specifically designed for older adults. The goal of this class is to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity level of older adults. While acknowledging the risk of falling, we’ll emphasize practical coping strategies. We’ll practice light exercises to improve balance, learn how to get up from a fall and lifestyle modifications for your home and general environment. Workbooks will be provided. Led by Dr Cheryl Abelow from FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Center. Limited to 20.

    Join us as Anita Thompson & Helen Anzick from the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network will talk about arthritis, adaptive equipment, joint protection, and exercise. Anita Thompson, P.T. (Physical Therapist), the clinical supervisor and an advanced clinician for the Neuro Rehabilitation Program. She specializes in treatment of neurological disorders and the aging population. Helen Anzick, O.T.R./L (Occupational Therapist), has 22 years of experience and specializes in working with hand injuries and joint changes. In addition, Helen has extensive experience in modifying both activities and equipment in order to help clients stay independent.

  4. Improv Your Mind with Kristen Mazzocchi

    Aside from being a fun and engaging theater art form, improvisational theater (Improv) also stimulates memory and brain health. You and your fellow participants will participate in spontaneous, unscripted improve games. The atmosphere will be warm and inclusive for both Improv novices and those with some prior experience. You will have a great time, laugh a lot and make new friends. Limited to 20. Kristen Mazzocchi was a founding member of the Improv Asylum in Boston. She facilitates corporate training programs, has a Master's in Arts Education from Harvard University and directs and teaches theater and improv in various locations in the Metro-west area.
